How CBE Works at Monark
Competency-Based Curriculum focuses on what learners can do, not just what they know.
Competency Based Education (CBE) focuses on what learners can do with what they learn. Instead of memorising for one high-stakes exam, children build skills step by step through classwork, projects, practical activities, and regular feedback from their teachers.
At Monark School, we combine strong literacy and numeracy foundations with values, creativity, and real-world learning. Our teachers use ongoing assessment—daily observations, oral work, written tasks, and projects—to understand each learner’s progress and guide their next steps.
The 7 Core Competencies
- Communication & Collaboration — expressing ideas clearly and working respectfully with others
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving — asking good questions and finding practical solutions
- Creativity & Imagination — generating new ideas through art, writing, and projects
- Citizenship — understanding rights, responsibilities, and respect for community
- Digital Literacy — using technology safely and effectively for learning
- Learning to Learn — building study habits, self-management, and a growth mindset
- Self-Efficacy — confidence, resilience, and taking responsibility for progress
Our structured routines, caring teachers, and co-curricular activities ensure that every learner grows not just academically, but socially and emotionally too.
Learner-Centred Teaching
Each lesson is designed around the learner's abilities, interests, and pace — not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Competency Assessment
Progress is tracked through practical demonstrations, projects, and portfolios alongside written assessments.
Holistic Development
Academics are balanced with co-curricular activities, values education, and community engagement.
Teacher as Facilitator
Our educators guide, mentor, and challenge learners rather than simply delivering content.
Real-World Application
Learning is connected to real problems and situations so students understand the purpose behind every lesson.
Continuous Feedback
Regular feedback loops between teachers, learners, and parents ensure no child is left behind.
